New! Expected May 2025: Tulip Murasaki Crochet Hooks
In 2025, Tulip proudly presents Murasaki crochet hooks. A luxury crochet hook to love and craft with! The perfect combination of Murasaki, a traditional Japanese color, and Tulip technology. The hook features not only visual beauty but also inherits the character of ETIMO that pursues smooth crocheting. The hooks are shiny pale purple, and the cushion grips are graduated so that you can fully appreciate the Murasaki color spectrum.
Murasaki is the Japanese word for:
- Lithospermum erythrorhizon (ムラサキ), commonly called purple gromwell
- the colour purple (紫)
The roots of Murasaki (or the purple gromwell) have been used for dyeing luxury textiles in Japan for a long time (since the Nara period) and the purple color has been regarded as a noble color in Japan. The process of extracting the dyestuff from this plant was a complex and time consuming process, making the Murasaki dye expensive and high-end. In Japan, the first system to rank officials into 12 levels denoted Murasaki as the color to represent the highest rank of nobility. Until today, this color has been loved by many people, being regarded as both a noble as mysterious color.
The Murasaki crochet hooks are expected to arrive in May, but are already available to order for your shop!
The Murasaki hooks have:
- A smooth hook for smooth crocheting;
- An easy to grip shape to prevent hands from tiring;
- A cushion support grip to fit your hand comfortably;
- A shiny pale purple color in a gradual Murasaki (purple) color spectrum.
